Homeschool Garden Curriculum
Grow a 10-ft row of dry beans and use them as learning material all summer long! Dry beans (Bush beans; black, pinto, orcas, etc.) are easy to direct sow and are drought tolerant. They produce a dry bean in their dried up pod in early fall that is harvested as a shelf-stable protein.
This is a curriculum targeted towards 8-10 year old students, but I would say kids and adults of all ages would learn something new!
Nutrition, biology, and math are all intertwined in this curriculum that I wrote for my Masters in Horticulture Thesis in 2015. This is a free resource, so download it, print it out, and read it! It is full of great information and please let me know if you have any questions.
